Painting Mayflower Beach

Mayflower Beach is a popular beach located in Dennis, Massachusetts, on Cape Cod. It is known for its scenic beauty, wide sandy shores, and calm waters, making it a favorite destination for locals and visitors alike.

Old photo of Mayflower Beach, Dennis, Massachusetts – Cape Cod.

The beach stretches along the shores of Cape Cod Bay and offers breathtaking views of the water and the surrounding landscape. It is characterized by its expansive shoreline, soft sand, and gentle slopes. During low tide, the beach extends far out, providing ample space for walking and exploring.

At low tide, Mayflower Beach unveils fascinating tide pools, which are perfect for exploring and discovering small marine creatures. Additionally, sandbars form in the bay, creating shallow and calm pools of water ideal for wading and playing.

Painting Mayflower Beach was peaceful and fulfilling. The photo I was given as a reference, although a bit old, made me want to revisit the pristine beaches of Cape Cod.

For the painting, I chose a mix of cerulean blue, ultramarine blue, yellow ochre, and burnt umber as my primary pallet colors. Together they created tranquil harmony on the canvas.

In the end, painting Mayflower Beach was a satisfying experience.

it’s a lovely painting; it makes you want to walk into it and stroll along the beach; I live only a few ks from the beach but the weather this late autumn has not been kind but I checked the forecast: it’s turning, it’s turning 🙂

    1. Thank you, John! It must be so nice loving that close to the ocean. I live about an hour away myself, worth the drive though. 🦋😊

The blues in your painting are gorgeous! I’m reminded of a book i read not so long ago: The Outermost House by Henry Beston! I doubt if I could find a similar beach here! 💓🙋‍♂️
